한 귀에 재즈 분위기, 몽롱하고 끈적한 보컬이 들린다.
소울 분위기에 야한 분위기지만 한편으로 우아하기도 또 깊고 따뜻한 느낌이 난다. 어쩌면 괜히 촛불 켜 놓고 분위기 내야 할지도 모른다. 블루 식스의 대표곡인 Music & Wine은 딥하우스를 거론하면 가끔 언급되는 곡 중 하나라고 합니다. 건반소리가 일렉트로닉 피아노인가요? 이런 음색이 알앤비 등 소울풍 음악에 많이 나오던데, 이 소리가 묘하게 고혹적입니다.
Pure나 타이틀 곡인 'Beautiful Tomorrow'와 함께 수록된 앨범인 2002년도 앨범 Beautiful Tomorrow은 앉아서 듣고 싶기도 하고 춤을 추고도 싶게도 만든다. 역시 같은 음반사 소속인 Lisa Shaw도 참여했다.
Blue Six - Beautiful Tomorrow (2002)
재즈 아티스트 마일스 데이비스나 기타 주자 지미 핸드릭스를 듣고 큰 Jay Denes는 처음에는 락음악을 하다. 그런데 고향인 뉴저지 뉴왁(Newark)에서 뉴욕으로 옮아온 이후 힙합 프로듀서 Bob Power의 눈에 띠고 Dave Boonshoft와 함께 1992년 딥하우스, 다운템포 성향의 Naked Music이라는 레이블을 열면서 뉴욕에서 일렉트로니카 음악으로 방향을 바꾸게 되었다. 90년대말, 그때까지 리믹스에 주력하던 Jay Denes가 Blue Six로 본격적으로 곡을 내면서 소울풍의 일렉트로니카 음반회사로 자리 잡게 되었다. 이 레이블에는 Miguel Migs, Lisa Shaw가 여기서 주로 앨범을 냈는데 이들 음악을 들어보신 분은 감이 오실 것이다. 물론 딥하우스에 소울풍이다.
Blue Six는 Jay Denes 본명으로 엄청나게 많은 곡을 리믹스했는데 주로는 리믹스에 참여하는데 Sade의 By Your Side에도 참여하였다. 반면 90년대말부터 자신의 곡을 발표하다가 2002년에 그의 히트 앨범 "Beautiful Tomorrow"을 발표하였다. 한동안 또 리믹스에 주력하던 그가 2007년에 두번째 앨범 Aquarian Angel을 내게 된다.
